IDEA & CONCEPT
A chapel, devoid of serenity, reflects the experience of forced marriage.
The pavilion, constructed of cold steel and fabrics meant for bridal veils, symbolizes the emotions of a forced bride. Young women, on the cusp of self-discovery, are confronted with the harsh reality of forced marriage and lose control of their lives. This dichotomy is striking in Africa, where high rates of forced marriage cause immense distress. To address this problem, Tahrir Square in Cairo is proposed for illumination, representing change and revolution
